Painting & Preparation
Thorough surface preparation is the foundation of every quality paint job — filling, sanding, priming, caulking and protecting before a single drop of paint is applied.
Every lasting paint finish starts with surfaces that are properly prepared. Skipping or rushing this stage is the most common reason a new coat of paint looks uneven, fails to adhere or starts peeling early. Jordan treats preparation as an integral part of every job, not an afterthought.
Preparation work covers the full range of what surfaces need before paint: hairline cracks and holes are filled, sanded flush and spot-primed; rough or porous surfaces are rubbed down and sealed; gaps between woodwork and plaster are caulked for clean, sharp lines; old flaking paint is stripped back; bare timber is knotted and primed. On exterior surfaces, mould, algae and dirt are treated and cleaned before any new coating goes on.
For older properties — the Victorian and Edwardian stock that makes up much of SW London and parts of Surrey — preparation often includes dealing with layers of old paint on woodwork, stabilising crumbling plaster and assessing whether areas need specialist treatment before redecorating. This is where proper preparation makes the biggest difference to the longevity of the finished result.
